iStylista Delivers

Even though I don’t live in the United Kingdom, I still very much try to keep up with my British fashionistas. I love U.K. fashion magazines, blogs, and shops(Next, Top Shop, Dorothy Perkins, Monsoon, love ‘em all!). So it shoud come as no surprise that I try to include British fashion faves into my blog!

One fairly recent website I found is iStylista, which is essentially a virtual version of a personal shopper. Simply sign up for a free account then type in your size, age range, style, monthly budget, and your personal style issues regarding your shape. iStylista then magically selects tops, blouses, pants, skirts, dresses, outwear, jewelry, shoes, and more! Keep checking iStylista often for new selections on a frequent basis- you can also opt for email updates if you’d like.

iStylista was created by Chantelle Znideric, who is a well-known stylist to the stars. The whole website is also ran by professional stylists, so you know that you’re getting genuine advice! If you want more, you can also download personal style guides and recieve a full iStylista membership. Prices start at £30, but you can also download a free trial.

While most of the fashions featured on website are mainly available to fashionistas across the pond, I think anyone would enjoy browsing this website to learn about what looks good, plus get styling tips on how to make that look work for you. I love this website, and I highly recommend it to my readers, so join iStylista today~

Product Review: L’Oreal Clean Artiste Eye Makeup Remover*

I’ve got sensitive eyes, and I am not so keen about using liquid eye makeup removers as I am afraid that it will irritate my eyes. I”m also the type to opt for simple makeup cleansing cloths that I just swipe across my face and eyes to cleanse off my makeup.  But, like I said, I am willing to try anything for the sake of beauty.

L’Oreal Clean Artiste Eye Makeup Remover was designed for sensitive eyes which was just what I needed. Just soak a cotton ball into the formula and watch the eye makeup disappear like magic. Accept it took a few tries for me.

A few years ago, I used a (CoverGirl, I think), eye makeup remover that easily removed the makeup in one single swipe per eye. With L’Oreal Clean Artiste Eye Makeup Remover, it took me a bit longer to remove every single trace, and I don’t wear a lot of eye makeup. The good news is that it doesn’t burn or irritate. Its also scent-free.

In the end, L’Oreal Clean Artiste Eye Makeup Remover works well, and its afforadable. Its a great choice for those willing to sacrifice a just a little extra patience for your eyes~

L’Oreal Clean Artiste Eye Makeup Remover is available at Walgreens

How To Get Rid Of Dark Under Eye Circles?

Everybody either has/had or will have under eye circles at some point. It’s a common issue many people have and what makes it worse is that they are hard to cover up.

Sure magazines may give tips that work for some people, but either they do not work for everybody or they don’t cover them up all that much. So my questions for you is this, how do you cover yours up? Feel free to offer tips and share advice on this.

If you have any questions for us, send them in to be featured on this site. Email shopinchic83(at)yahoo(dot)com.

Screen Actors Guild Awards: What The Stars Wore

Another awards show calls for another session of red carpet style rating. A quick reminder on how our rating system works- 1=ugly and 5=fabulous. Of course, we will share why it either worked or did not work.

Enjoy!

Photo from fOTOGLIF

Rating: 1 Why? Kate Hudson’s Emilio Pucci gown looks like something out of Star Trek. Plus the cut does not flatter anyone.

Photo from fOTOGLIF

Rating: 3 Why? Christina Applegate’s pale blue Roberto Cavalli pale blue dress is proper for her age, but the cut does not work.

Photo from fOTOGLIF

Rating: 5 Why? Mariah Carey finally is wearing something that fits her age and makes her look classy!

Photo from fOTOGLIF

Rating: 1 Why? Tina Fey’s Ferragamo’s purple dress looks sort of life a tuxedo.

Photo from fOTOGLIF

Rating: 4 Why? Helen Mirren’s dress is classy and sexy for her age.

Photo from fOTOGLIF

Rating: 2 Why? Julia Louis-Dreyfus dress cut is ideal for her age, she’s still pushing it with the color.

Rating: 3 Why? Great color, but a bit too young.

Who was your favorite and least favorite at the SAG awards?

5 Beauty Essentials You Need To Glam Up Fast

I love this bag! Juicy Loves Sephora Icon Canvas Tote was designed exclusively for Sephora. You can purchase this bag at Sephora for $78. Its the perfect bag to tote your beauty essentials.

Imagine this: After a long, hard day, you’re just finishing your work and getting ready to leave for home. Suddenly your cell phone rings and its your best friend calls to let you know that everyone is getting together to check out the latest club in town. Cool, right?
After all, you just need to shed your blazer to reveal the brand new and chic little black dress; then switch your rather conservative round toe heels for sexier peep-toe pumps. You are good to go, until you realize that not only is your hair in a sleek bun, you’re also wearing minimal makeup. Clear lip gloss and brown mascara won’t do at a hip club!

Good thing you look inside your large black bag and uncover your emergency glamour girl beauty bag! Now you can remove your tight bun and add more sexy volume to your hair, as well as doll up your face with products that create smoky eyes and a sexy full pout. Did I forget to mention that your bag only contains five small products that work wonders in only a matter of minutes. Don’t know what’s in your bag? Here are the five must-haves that you should never leave without again!

1- Stila Smoky Eye Talking Palette: This fool-proof kit actually “tells” you how to create the smoldering look in about five steps. Better yet, this four-shade kit contains virtually everything you need(minus the mascara) to create that super sexy look! This genius kit includes three eye shadows(cool champagne, silver grey, dark grey, and ebony eyeliner. No need to to digging through your vanity drawers, this had everything!
available at Bliss for $40

2-Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips Gloss in Charity: You can all the lip cosmetics in the world, but all you really need is a red lipstick or gloss- preferably something that enhances your lip’s natural shape and plumps them up a bit. There is nothing sexier than full red lips, and with the Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips Gloss in Charity, its never been easier!
available at Sephora

3- M.A.C Pro Lash Mascara: Why let makeup artists have all the fun? With M.A.C Pro Lash Mascara works like a charm as it gives you lashes with full volume and extra length. What you don’t get is smudges or flakes. And its simple enough to give you what you want when you need it-all it takes a a single brush stroke or two.
available at M.A.C

4-Elnett Satin Supreme Hold Hairspray: No other hairspray will do! Elnett Satin Supreme Hold Hairspray is the hairspray of choice. Chances are you already have at least one can on your vanity, but you’ll need a travel sized hairspray to carry in your cosmetic bag in case of emergencies.
available at Amazon

5- Your Favorite Fragrance
While its okay to carry a few various scents inside your cosmetic bag, I would advise that you that you carry at least 1 small bottle of your favorite fragrance wherever you go. Choose a fragrance that you love and gives you confidence, because sometimes confidence is everything!

Fashion Alphabet Soup: A is for Athletics

Big trend this upcoming Spring 2010: sporty chic is making a big comeback!  Of course that doesn’t mean you have to live in tracksuits and sneakers(unless of course you want to), but what this means is that fashion is going even more casual. Think preppy influenced sporty stripes, jersey tunics and dresses, and anything that makes you really want to move. Anyone can take part of this trend, but if you actually do play a sport(surfing, tennis, or perhaps a varsity team if you’re still in high school), you most definitely don’t want to wear the same clothes you have to wear when participating in the activity. For instance, don’t wear your sweaty sports bra underneath a jacket, buy a new sports bra that will remain reserved for celebrating the trend.

All in all, working this trend is rather easy, particularly if you already own a lot of comfy casual clothes. Its so easy and comfy. Try pairing a tennis dress with a cropped cardigan sweater- but save the tennis shoes for the court and slip on a pair of dainty flats. Another idea is to pair a nautical stripe tank or cami with utilarian trousers, then add a pair of sexy pointy-toe pumps. Never wear sporty head to toe, always balance out the look with something more feminine. Here are some ideas to inspire!

Hard Tail Long Tank Bra Top $46 at Nordstrom

Zella Oasis Hooded Hooded Top $48 at Nordstrom

Stride Jacket II $108 at Lulelemon Athletica

Nike Free Trainer 7.0.3 $59.99  at Lady Foot Locker

Black Cloud Anchors Terry Bag $19.50 at PacSun

Seaside Capri Pants $59.00 at Athleta

Printed Bra Cup Cami Dress $59.00 at Athleta

Superega 2750 Classic Orange Tennis Shoes $65 at Zappos

BBSP Sports Bra $29.00 at Bebe

Longline Jersey Cardigan £14.00 at ASOS

Pineapple Black Slouch Jogging Bottoms £16.00 at Debenhams

Animal Dark Pink ‘Causey’ Vest Top £18.00 at Debenhams

Lacoste Limon Sneakers £59.99 at JD Sports

Yoga Foldover Crop Pants $24.50 at Victoria’s Secret
